Big Leaf Maple has a pale champagne color with warm almost pinkish undertones.
Not white and sterile looking like its eastern cousin. Big Leaf Maple is known for its figured grain, almost three dimensional when finished- it is prized by the finest violin makers. Similar in hardness to American Cherry- its a good choice for light traffic residential applications. Our Character grade will have a natural rustic personality, with tight knots ,checks and some darker chocolate brown wood, and more figured grain. Select grade will provide a more uniform, clean modern look.
