We produce our countertops in three styles,
each with a distinct look and a functional value.
SIDE GRAIN
Our traditional countertop, the side grain is harder than the face
grain due to the orientation of the tree's growth rings. We use thicker lumber
than typical for our butcher blocks, avoiding the
"stripey" look that others have when they use lots of thin
strips of wood. Great for high use islands, worktops and cutting
surfaces. Moderate to very hard depending on the species.
Standard thickness: 1-1/2" is most
common, 1-4" standard, custom up to 12"
END GRAIN
The end grain is
even harder than the side grain. More of a checkered top look,
less linear appearance than the side grain. Very hard, perfect for
heavy use cutting surfaces and chopping blocks.
Standard thickness: 2", 2-1/2", 3",
4" standard, custom up to 12" thick
PLANK
Face
Grain is up. Plank style is more of a furniture style, for table tops or low
use counter
surfaces.
Standard thickness: 1", 1-1/4" and 2-1/4"
most commonly
